We have almost 150 musicians and techs based across four cities. With that many members in rotation, it’s not uncommon for clients to ask, “Who will the singers be at my event?”
In this post, we shed some light on the Side One roster method and how it raises the bar for every performance.
We’ve always played I Wanna Dance With Somebody, but the classic Whitney Houston tune recently overtook our clients’ other favourites for the coveted ‘Most Requested Song’ title. BY A LOT. Rob gives his take on why that is and what’s driving event band trends these days.
A common question for any wedding band is “Can you play the Hora?” And to that we say l’chaim! This is one of our favourite wedding traditions and there’s no better way to kick off a party! Read on for our tips on how to give your guests (and couple) an experience they’ll never forget!
After playing a full night of live music at a wedding in Vancouver or a corporate event in Calgary, we’re often asked where people can buy our album which is funny because we’ve just played 3 hours of other people’s music. Trust me, those bands that are charging $20K for your local event are not bringing that much more to the table. Here’s some of the reasons why we’re priced differently us other event bands:
You may have noticed when you’re given a quote by us that we separate the band costs and the “Production” costs. First off, what is production?
Production is all of the sound gear (mics, speakers, etc.) that we need for you to hear us and for us to hear ourselves when we play. Because vocalists aren’t as loud as drummers or electric guitar amps, we mic everything and it balances the volumes of all of the instruments. Here’s a video that we made to show what the band sounds like without production:
Music is personal and it can often evoke even a sense identity for people. Well....duh. That's where we get punks, hipsters, skids, gangstas.....chances are if you see any of these people on the street, you can guess what's in their earbuds.
